In
early summer 2004, Michael painted the picture below and wanted to call
it "Tsunami", I persuaded him to rename it "The Wave"
as I felt not many people would be familiar with the expression "Tsunami".
By fate he found himself in Bali in late December as the terrible disaster
struck but luckily he was living in the mountains and knew nothing about
the event.

In
Bali he commenced painting the following six images the first two of which
were completed before he was told about the disaster. He feels he was
inspired / compelled to paint this sequence, it captures the cataclysmic
sequence of the event, through confusion, reawakening and gradual coming
to terms. The Sequence is called :-
